drakes pool

A wonderfully restored 200 year old cottage

In the historical setting of Drakes Pool

On a creek in Cork Harbour on Ireland's south western coast this wonderful old cottage is situated only half a mile upriver from the oldest yacht club in the world the R.C.Y.C, formerly the Water Club of Cork Harbour and founded in 1720 by the 9th Lord Inchiquin.

It was in 1831 that the club received it's Royal Charter from King William IV and bears the same name to this day. The then Prince of Wales attended several regattas here on his famous yacht, Brittania.

The cottage consists of 3 bedrooms, 2 of which have en-suite bathrooms, and may sleep up to five people. Other rooms include comfortable sitting room with open fire, spacious kitchen-cum-dining room with seating for 6 or more and a 30 ft. south facing conservatory overlooking the picturesque tranquil waters of Drakes Pool.

Situated on 6 acres of water fronted woodland on a private estate, which has belonged to the Newenham family for 300 years, the cottage is surrounded by mature woodland. There is also a private marina for personal use. Optional studio/workshop space is also available.

The village of Carrigaline lies a mere 1.5 miles away, Cork airport 6 miles, and Cork City is only 20 minutes away. This secluded retreat is ideal to unwind from the pressures of modern living.
